In Israeli slang, "Sababa" means "the best"  Keshet Chaim Dance Ensemble premiered two new works and, together with Teev Productions, brought Israeli pop icons Danny, Gidi & Friends for an evening of Israeli dance and rock 'n' roll that was… Sababa! 

Danny Sanderson and Gidi Gov are contemporary pop icons, founding members of the legendary rock band Kaveret/Poogy, known as the "Israeli Beatles."  Together, Danny and Gidi also formed two other groups considered among the cornerstones of Israeli rock music: Gazoz and Doda.  On March 11, Danny, Gidi & Friends (Alon Olearchik, Ephraim Shamir and Keren Malka) performed the greatest hits from Kaveret/Poogy, Gazoz, Doda and their solo repertoires in an evening laced with their trademark humor that meshed music, lyrics and comedy together in perfect harmony.

Audiences also saw two new works by Keshet Chaim Dance Ensemble set to original music by Israeli band Nomai Concept.  The first, also called Sababa choreographed by Keshet Chaim artistic director Eytan Avisar and Tsion Marciano; Voice of Peace choreographed by Kobi Rozenfeld.  Nomai Concept band members Alon Danin (keyboards) and Itzik Levy (flute) accompanied live.  Keshet Chaim, which means"Rainbow of Life," is the premier American-Israeli contemporary dance troupe in the United States. The group's repertoire is inspired by Jewish life in many lands and covers a vast span of history, from the time of Solomon and Sheba to the present.

Sababa was part of "Let My People Sing," an annual city-wide celebration of Jewish freedom, song, dance and spirit produced by Craig Taubman.
